In the rushed, deadline-driven, work-a-day world founded in the profit-defined and perverted Puritan ethic we internalize in US culture, the quality of stillness is not only under-appreciated, it is demeaned. This image speaks to the contrary. It celebrates the enlightenment, the whimsey, the poignancy of moments of stillness all too often neglected or purposely avoided. Embracing a moment of stillness, we honor its existence and our own. We capture it in memory, to breathe life into the dark void of ignorance and chaos.
