I want to be called Lew Lew,

as, in China, pandas are called Ling Ling

or Shi Shi, the doubling of the name

a reverent cooing for the great panda,

giant cat bear.

Despite its clownish behavior,

like rump-bumping, and comical appearance,

the panda, by nature, is solitary and aggressive,

but is given names like Ching Ching

and names that mean “beautiful fragrance”

and “more and more.”
